Recipe Details

  • Prep Time: 20 minutes
  • Bake Time: 20–25 minutes
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: About 120 (1-inch) treats

Ingredients

  • 1 cup regular rolled oats
  • 1 ½ cups whole wheat flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons finely chopped parsley*
  • 3 tablespoons finely chopped mint*

Instructions

Step 1:
Preheat oven to 350°F. Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper. In a food processor, pulse oats for about 30 seconds until they resemble flour, with a few larger pieces remaining.

Step 2:
In a large bowl, combine processed oats, flour, applesauce, canola oil, egg, parsley, and mint. Stir until a dough forms.

Step 3:
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and roll it out to 1/8-inch thickness. Use a 1-inch round cookie cutter to cut out treats, re-rolling scraps as needed. Arrange them on the prepared baking sheets.

Step 4:
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until the treats feel dry to the touch and the bottoms turn a light golden color. Let them cool completely on the pan before serving or storing.

Tips & Storage

  • Dogs should only consume mint and parsley in small amounts. Limit to one treat per day.
  • Store fully cooled treats in an airtight container or resealable bag. Refrigerate for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw before serving.
